Abstract : New Cumberland Dam spillway will consist of eleven 110-ft-wide bays through which flow will be regulated by five submergible- and six nonsubmergible-type tainter gates. Energy dissipation will be accomplished on a horizontal apron surmounted by baffle piers and an end sill. Bulkhead sections will be provided for emergency closure of the spillway bays.
