Abstract : Pike Island Dam spillway will contain nine 110-ft-wide bays, flow through which will be regulated by five submergible and four nonsubmergible tainter gates. Energy dissipation will be accomplished on a horizontal apron surmounted by baffle piers and an end sill. Model investigation of stilling basin performance was conducted in a 1:25-scale section model installed in a 1-ft-wide glass-sided flume.
