A novel Gram-negative, rod shaped, non-motile bacterium, designated strain YK2T, was isolated from yak milk from Leh, India. The strain was positive for oxidase- and catalase-activities and negative for starch hydrolysis, nitrate reduction, citrate utilization, urease, lysine decarboxylase and ornithine decarboxylase activities. The predominant fatty acids were iso-C15 : 0, iso-C17 : 0 3-OH, iso-C17 : 1ω9c and C16 : 1ω7c and/or C16 : 1ω6c and/or iso-C15 : 0 2-OH (summed feature 3). The major…

TLDR
A Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped, aerobic, non-flagellated, chemoheterotrophic bacterium, designated strain IMCC25678T, was isolated from an artificial freshwater reservoir, Chungju Lake, in the Republic of Korea and indicated that it belongs to the genus Sphingobacterium.
Sphingobacterium cavernae sp. nov., a novel bacterium isolated from soil sampled at Tiandong Cave.
TLDR
The polyphasic taxonomic characteristics indicated that strain 5.0304-2T represents a novel species of the genus Sphingobacterium, for which the name SphingOBacterium cavernae sp.
Sphingobacterium faecale sp. nov., a 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate deaminase producing bacterium isolated from camel faeces.

TLDR
An investigation of the diversity of 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate deaminase producing bacteria associated with camel faeces revealed the presence of a novel bacterial strain designated C459-1T, which represents a novel species of the genus Sphingobacterium.
Sphingobacterium bovistauri sp. nov., Isolated from the Faeces of Bos Taurus.
TLDR
A novel bacterium isolated from the faeces of Bos taurus, foraging on the slopes of the Baima Snow Mountain in Yunnan, China, indicated that strain WQ 366 T represents a novel species of the Sphingobacterium genus.
Sphingobacterium rhinopitheci sp. Nov., isolated from the faeces of Rhinopithecus bieti in China.
TLDR
A novel bacterium was isolated from the faeces of Rhinopithecus bieti, a highly endangered primate endemic to China and the taxonomic position of WQ 047T was clarified by applying a polyphasic study based on 16S rRNA gene sequence phylogenetic analysis, extensive biological typing, and whole genome sequencing.
Sphingobacterium puteale sp. nov., isolated from a deep subsurface aquifer.
TLDR
Based on similarities of 16S rRNA gene sequences, strain M05W1-28T was affiliated with the genus Sphingobacterium, exhibiting the highest sequence similarities with S. multivorum LMG 8342T and less than 97.0 % to other members of the genus.
Sphingobacterium micropteri sp. nov. and Sphingobacterium litopenaei sp. nov., isolated from aquaculture water.
TLDR
Two novel bacterial strains, designated as DN00404T and DN04309T, were isolated from aquaculture water and characterized by using a polyphasic taxonomic approach, revealing that they belonged to the genus Sphingobacterium and were distinct from all known species of this genus.
Exploring the Diversity of Active Ureolytic Bacteria in the Rumen by Comparison of cDNA and gDNA
TLDR
The diversity of active ureolytic bacteria in the rumen was revealed by compared ureC amplicons between genomic DNA (gDNA) and cDNA, and changes in the operational taxonomic units revealed that the top abundant UreC genes were mostly consistent between gDNA and c DNA, and most differences occurred in the ure C genes with lower abundances.
Microbial Populations of Fresh and Cold Stored Donkey Milk by High-Throughput Sequencing Provide Indication for A Correct Management of This High-Value Product
TLDR
A preliminary description of the microbial diversity of donkey milk is reported by using a metagenomic approach and encouraging a correct exploitation of this high-value niche product.
Effect of the Manufacturing Process on the Microbiota, Organoleptic Properties and Volatilome of Three Salmon-Based Products
TLDR
This study showed that the processing and packaging conditions both had an effect on the microbial composition and the quality of the final product.

Sphingobacterium composti sp nov., a novel DNase-producing bacterium isolated from compost
TLDR
On the basis of its phenotypic properties and phylogenetic distinctiveness, strain T5-12 T should be classified in the genus Sphingobacterium as the type strain of a novel species, for which the name SphingOBacterium composti sp.
Sphingobacterium lactis sp. nov. and Sphingobacterium alimentarium sp. nov., isolated from raw milk and a dairy environment.
TLDR
Four non-fermenting, rod-shaped, Gram-staining-negative bacterial strains isolated from raw milk and the dairy environment demonstrated the affiliation of the four strains to two distinct clusters within the class Sphingobacteriia, phylum 'Bacteroidetes'.

TLDR
A new genus, Sphingobacterium, two new combinations, and two new species are described, including S. spiritivorum and S. multivorum, which are characterized and distinguished from the genus Flavobacteria by the presence in its strains of high concentrations of sphingophospholipids as cellular lipid components.
Isolates belonging to CDC group II-i belong predominantly to Sphingobacterium mizutaii Yabuuchi et al. 1983: emended descriptions of S. mizutaii and of the genus Sphingobacterium.
TLDR
Two clinical strains, NF 296 and NF 931, present in the authors' collection, were identified biochemically as members of CDC group II-i and determination of the 16S rRNA gene sequence revealed highest similarity with strains of Sphingobacterium mizutaii, finding both strains also to be positive for indole production.
