It has been a long-standing problem how the transverse M5-branes are described in the matrix-model formulations of M-theory. We consider this problem for M-theory on the maximally supersymmetric pp-wave geometry, which admits transverse spherical M5-branes with zero light-cone energy. By using the localization, we directly analyze the strong coupling region of the corresponding matrix theory called the plane wave matrix model (PWMM). Under the assumption that the low energy modes of the scalar…

Spherical transverse M5-branes from the plane wave matrix model

We consider matrix theoretical description of transverse M5-branes in M-theory on the 11-dimensional maximally supersymmetric pp-wave background. We apply the localization to the plane wave matrix

We review recent results of emergent geometries in the BMN matrix model, a one-dimensional gauge theory considered as a non-perturbative formulation of M-theory on the plane-wave geometry. A key to

The non-perturbative phase diagram of the BMN matrix model

We study the maximally supersymmetric plane wave matrix model (the BMN model) at finite temperature, T, and locate the high temperature phase boundary in the (μ, T) plane, where μ is the mass

Differential Cohomotopy implies intersecting brane observables via configuration spaces and chord diagrams

We introduce a differential refinement of Cohomotopy cohomology theory, defined on Penrose diagram spacetimes, whose cocycle spaces are unordered configuration spaces of points. First we prove that

Matrix entanglement

In gauge/gravity duality, matrix degrees of freedom on the gauge theory side play important roles for the emergent geometry. In this paper, we discuss how the entanglement on the gravity side can be

To gauge or not to gauge?

A bstractThe D0 brane, or BFSS, matrix model is a quantum mechanical theory with an interesting gravity dual. We consider a variant of this model where we treat the SU(N) symmetry as a global

Toward simulating superstring/M-theory on a quantum computer

We present a novel framework for simulating matrix models on a quantum computer. Supersymmetric matrix models have natural applications to superstring/M-theory and gravitational physics, in an
