In this paper, we analytically study the impact of spectrum-allocation scheme in picocells on the coverage probability (CP) of the pico user (PU) when the macro base stations (MBSs) employ either fractional frequency reuse (FFR) or soft frequency reuse (SFR). Assuming a fixed size for the picocell, the CP expression is derived for a PU present in either a FFR- or a SFR-based deployment and when the PU uses either the center or the edge frequency resources. Based on these expressions, we propose…
Resource Allocation for D2D Links in the FFR and SFR Aided Cellular Downlink
TLDR
This work proposes beneficial frequency allocation schemes, when the macrocell has employed FFR or SFR as its frequency reuse technique, and provides insights concerning the power control design in order to strike a beneficial tradeoff between the energy consumption and the performance of D2D links.
Resource Allocation and Interference Management for D2D-Enabled DL/UL Decoupled Het-Nets
TLDR
In this paper, resource allocation and interference mitigation are investigated for heterogeneous networks where the lowest tier consists of device-to-device (D2D) cells and a novel concatenated bi-partite matching (CBM) method is proposed for joint SB assignment (SA) and resource block allocation (RA) of cellular UEs.

TLDR
To deal with the inter-cell interference (ICIC) in the Macro base station-Pico base station (PBS) scenario of LTE-A heterogeneous network (HetNet), a modified ICIC scheme with randomly occupying partial frequency band is proposed, which is developed from frequency division multiplexing (FDM)ICIC scheme.

TLDR
Fractional frequency reuse (FFR) scheme is proposed as an ICIC scheme for two-layer aerial-terrestrial network and it is shown that the proposed scheme outperforms the noICIC scheme and conventional scheme.
Impact of Sub-Band Correlation on SFR and Comparison of FFR and SFR
TLDR
It is shown that the FFR provides better edge CP and average rate when compared with the SFR in single-input single-output (SISO) networks, thereby suggesting thatThe FFR should be preferred over S FR in cellular SISO OFDMA systems.
Effective resource block allocation procedure for quality of service provisioning in a single-operator heterogeneous LTE-A network
TLDR
This work considers the problem of resource block (RB) allocation in the integrated pico/macrocell Long Term Evolution - Advanced (LTE-A) network and proposes a simple heuristic technique to find the suitable (but not necessarily optimal) solution.
Coverage Probability and Achievable Rate Analysis of FFR-Aided Multi-User OFDM-Based MIMO and SIMO Systems
TLDR
The impact of frequency domain correlation amongst the OFDM sub-bands allocated to the FR1 and FR3 cell-regions is analysed and it is shown that the presence of correlation reduces both the coverage probability and the average throughput of the FFR network.

Analytical Evaluation of Fractional Frequency Reuse for OFDMA Cellular Networks
TLDR
This paper analytically evaluating the two main types of FFR deployments - Strict FFR and Soft Frequency Reuse - using a Poisson point process to model the base station locations and observes that FFR provides an increase in the sum-rate as well as the well-known benefit of improved coverage for cell-edge users.
On the Expanded Region of Picocells in Heterogeneous Networks
TLDR
Close-form formulas are derived to calculate appropriate REBs for two different range expansion strategies, investigate both DL and uplink (UL) inter-cell interference coordination (ICIC) to enhance picocell performance, and propose a new macrocell-picocell cooperative scheduling scheme to mitigate bothDL and UL interference caused by macrocells to ER PUEs.
Analytical Evaluation of Fractional Frequency Reuse for Heterogeneous Cellular Networks
TLDR
This paper proposes an analytical model for evaluating Strict FFR and Soft Frequency Reuse (SFR) deployments based on the spatial Poisson point process and results both capture the non-uniformity of heterogeneous deployments and produce tractable expressions which can be used for system design with StrictFFR and SFR.
