Spectroscopic monitoring of 141 southern field B-type stars, 114 of them known to exhibit the Be phenomenon, allowed the estimation of their projected rotational velocities, effective temperatures and superficial gravities from both line and equivalent width fitting procedures. Stellar ages, masses and bolometric luminosities were derived from internal structure models. Without taking into account the effects of gravity darkening, we note the occurrence of the Be phenomenon in later stages of…

Model Atmosphere Analysis of Some B-Type Stars
We present model atmosphere analysis for a sample of B-type stars in optical region to obtain their fundamental parameters e.g. effective temperature, surface gravities, and rotational velocities.
Chemical abundance analysis of the Be star HD 171054
Abstract In this work the results of a spectroscopic study of the southern field narrow-line Be star HD 171054 are presented. High dispersion and signal-to-noise ratio spectra allowed the estimation
Magnetic survey of emission line B-type stars with FORS 1 at the VLT†
We report the results of our search for magnetic fields in a sample of 16 field Be stars, the binary emission-line B-type star υ Sgr, and in a sample of fourteen members of the open young cluster
Stellar parameters of Be stars observed with X-shooter
Aims. The X-shooter archive of several thousand telluric star spectra was skimmed for Be and Be-shell stars to derive the stellar fundamental parameters and statistical properties, in particular for
The B and Be Star Population of NGC 3766
We present multiple epochs of Hα spectroscopy for 47 members of the open cluster NGC 3766 to investigate the long-term variability of its Be stars. Sixteen of the stars in this sample are Be stars,
Physical parameters and chemical abundances of δ Ceti
Abstract A detailed spectroscopic study of a β Cephei variable star, δ Ceti, is presented. Physical fundamental parameters are estimated from the best fitting of 26 neutral helium lines and Balmer
The Hα line emission of the Be star β Psc: the last 40 yr
A study on the photosphere and disc of the Be star β Psc is presented. We recover almost 40 yr of high-resolution spectroscopic observations and additional data gathered from the BeSS data base. We
Relative content of Be stars in young open star clusters
Based on high- and medium-resolution spectra, we analyze the population of Be stars in eight young open star clusters. We have found a clear dependence of the relative content of early-type (B0-B3)
VLTI/MIDI observations of 7 classical Be stars
Context. Classical Be stars are hot non-supergiant stars surrounded by a gaseous circumstellar envelope that is responsible for the observed IR-excess and emission lines. The origin of this envelope,
A spectroscopic study into accretion in Herbig Ae/Be stars
This thesis presents a spectroscopic study of the stellar properties, accretion rates, and emission lines of 91 Herbig Ae/Be stars. Medium resolution spectra and optical photometry are used to

In this paper we present new results on stellar fundamental parameters for early B and Be field stars observed in the southern hemisphere: effective temperature, superficial gravity, and projected
Be stars in open clusters
Rotational velocities and spectral types have been determined for Be stars in 12 open clusters in both the northern and the southern sky, and color-magnitude or H-R diagrams constructed for each from
A Study of Be Stars in Clusters
Calibrated spectrograms at Hα of 566 stars in 29 young galactic clusters led to the detection of 41 Be stars in clusters. Using cluster membership we have inferred ages and intrinsic (B — V) colors
Be stars are a class of rapidly rotating B stars with circumstellar disks that cause Balmer and other line emission. There are three possible reasons for the rapid rotation of Be stars: they may have
High and intermediate-resolution spectroscopy of Be stars - An atlas of H$\gamma$, He I 4471 and Mg II 4481 lines
We present an atlas of H ,H ei 4471 and Mg ii 4481 line proles obtained in a 10 year observation period of 116 Be stars, which enabled many of them to be observed at quite dierent emission epochs.
On the evolutionary status of Be stars - I. Field Be stars near the Sun
A sample of 97 galactic field Be stars were studied by taking into account the effects induced by the fast rotation on their fundamental parameters. All program stars were observed in the BCD
Effects of gravitational darkening on the determination of fundamental parameters in fast-rotating B-type stars
In this paper we develop a calculation code to account for the effects carried by fast rotation on the observed spectra of early-type stars. Stars are assumed to be in rigid rotation, and the grid of
Classical Be Stars
Recent results for classical Be stars are reviewed and links to general astrophysics are presented. Classical Be stars are B-type stars close to the main sequence that exhibit line emission over the
Be-star rotation: how close to critical?
We argue that, in general, observational studies of Be-star rotation have paid insufficient attention to the effects of equatorial gravity darkening. We present new line-profile calculations that
α Eridani: rotational distortion, stellar and circumstellar activity
We explore the geometrical distortion and the stellar and circumstellar activity of a Eri (HD 10144), the brightest Be star in the sky. We present a thorough discussion of the fundamental parameters
