Using empirical ion velocity distributions derived from Ultraviolet Coronagraph Spectrometer (UVCS) and Solar Ultraviolet Measurements of Emitted Radiation (SUMER) ultraviolet spectroscopy, we construct theoretical models of the nonequilibrium plasma state of the polar solar corona.
