A simple, sensitive and rapid spectrophotometric method for the determination of nitrite in different natural and wastewater samples is presented. This method is based on diazo coupling reaction where nitrite reacts with 4-aminophenylacetic acid under acidic condition to form diazonium ion which is subsequently coupled with resorcinol to form a stable orange coloured azo-dye.
