We have recently shown that dopaminergic responses to an attractive or an aversive stimulus were respectively increased and decreased in the core part of the nucleus accumbens and the ventromedial dorsal striatum. By contrast, increases in dopaminergic responses were obtained in the shell part of the nucleus accumbens with stimuli of both affective values.
