The specific heat of the {ital x}-{ital y} model is studied on cubic lattices of sizes {ital L}{times}{ital L}{times}{ital L} and on lattices {ital L}{times}{ital L}{times}{ital H} with {ital L}{much_gt}{ital H} (i.e., on lattices representing a film geometry) using the cluster Monte Carlo method. Periodic boundary conditions were applied in all directions.
