We discuss new-type grand unified theories based on grand unified groups broken to their special subgroups as well as their regular subgroups. In the framework, when we construct four-dimensional (4D) chiral gauge theories, i.e., the Standard Model (SM), 4D gauge anomaly cancellation restricts the minimal number of generations of the 4D SM Weyl fermions. We show that in a six-dimensional (6D) $SU(16)$ gauge theory on $M^4\times T^2/\mathbb{Z}_2$ one generation of the SM fermions can be embedded…

We discuss family unification in grand unified theory (GUT) based on an $SU(19)$ GUT gauge group broken to its subgroups including a special subgroup. In the $SU(19)$ GUT on the six-dimensional (6D)

### String-Inspired Special Grand Unification

We discuss a grand unified theory (GUT) based on an $SO(32)$ GUT gauge group broken to its subgroups including a special subgroup. In the $SO(32)$ GUT on six-dimensional (6D) orbifold space

### Extending Symmetries of the Standard Model towards Grand Unification

In this master thesis the spacetime, global and gauge symmetries of the Standard Model are reviewed. These symmetries are used as a basis for finding possible extensions of this successful model,

The mass spectra of the standard model particles are reproduced in the $SO(11)$ gauge-Higgs grand unification in the six-dimensional warped space without introducing exotic light fermions. Light

### Dynamical breaking to special or regular subgroups in the SO(N) Nambu–Jona-Lasinio model

It was recently shown that in four-dimensional $SU(N)$ Nambu–Jona-Lasinio (NJL) type models, the $SU(N)$ symmetry breaking into its special subgroups is not special but much more common than that

The purpose of this paper is to show that symmetry breaking into special subgroups is not special at all, contrary to the usual wisdom. To demonstrate this explicitly, we examine the dynamical

In gauge-Higgs unification (GHU), the 4D Higgs boson appears as a part of the fifth dimensional component of 5D gauge field. Recently, an SO(11) GUT inspired SO(5) × U(1) × SU(3) GHU model has been

Fermion pair production at e-e+ linear collider experiments with polarized e- and e+ beams is examined in the GUT inspired SO(5)×U(1)×SU(3) gauge-Higgs unification. There arises large parity
