Maturation of immature bovine oocytes requires cytoplasmic polyadenylation and synthesis of a number of proteins involved in meiotic progression and metaphase-II arrest. Aurora serine-threonine kinases--localized in centrosomes, chromosomes, and midbody--regulate chromosome segregation and cytokinesis in somatic cells.
