We study the Kondo screening of a single magnetic impurity inside a nonmagnetic quantum corral located on the surface of a metallic host system. We show that the spatial structure of the corral's eigenmodes leads to a spatially dependent Kondo effect whose signatures are spatial variations of the Kondo temperature T K. Moreover, we predict that the Kondo screening is accompanied by the formation of multiple Kondo resonances with characteristic spatial patterns. Our results open new…

Quantum manipulation via atomic-scale magnetoelectric effects.
TLDR
These magnetoelectric effects allow one to control the properties of systems placed inside the corral as well as their electronic signatures; they provide powerful alternative tools for probing electronic properties at the atomic scale.
Kondo-free mirages in elliptical quantum corrals
TLDR
By building elliptical quantum corrals of adatoms on a metal surface, the authors establish the mechanism of Kondo-free mirages and utilize it to build atomic-scale logic gates.
Miraging a Majorana
The image of a Majorana mode located on the focus of an elliptical corral of free electrons is studied. The Majorana mode may be taken at the edge of a topological wire superimposed on the
