Water quality assessments are essential for providing information regarding integrated water resource management processes. This study presents the results of a spatial and seasonal surface water quality assessment of the Burio river sub-catchment in Costa Rica. Fourteen sample campaigns were conducted at eight sample sites between 2005 and 2010. Seasonal variations were evaluated using linear mixed-effects models where dissolved oxygen, total solids, and nitrate showed significant differences…

Evaluation of spatio-temporal variations in water quality and suitability of an ecologically critical urban river employing water quality index and multivariate statistical approaches: A study on Shitalakhya river, Bangladesh

Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the spatio-seasonal variations in water quality and suitability of the Shitalakhya river, an economically important and ecologically critical urban

Analyzing the significant environmental factors on the spatial and temporal distribution of water quality utilizing multivariate statistical techniques: a case study in the Balihe Lake, China

Monitoring of environmental parameters in Balihe Lake reveals that the main factors affecting the surface water quality are different in the four seasons, and it is reasonable to select seasonal scale for the study of water quality in an agricultural watershed by using PCA.

Spatial and Temporal Variability of Water Quality in the Bystrzyca River Basin, Poland

The aim of the study was to analyze the results of surface water quality tests carried out in the Bystrzyca river basin. The study was conducted over four years in four seasons. The following

Changes in Selected Water Quality Parameters in the Utrata River as a Function of Catchment Area Land Use

A considerably negative impact of agricultural land use and the presence of urban areas on the water quality of the Utrata River is demonstrated, with elevated concentrations of total phosphorus, ammonia nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen and COD, and decreasing concentrations of dissolved oxygen.

Evaluating Water Quality Variation in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta Area Using Cluster and Discriminant Analysis

The study aims to assess spatial and temporal water quality variations in the upper reaches of the Vietnamese Mekong Delta. Thirty-one water monitoring samples of the two main rivers (Tien and Hau

Ecosystemic Assessment of Surface Water Quality in the Virilla River: Towards Sanitation Processes in Costa Rica

Water quality information is essential supporting decision making in water management processes. The lack of information restricts, at some point, the implementation of adequate sanitation, which is

Assessment of water quality condition and spatiotemporal patterns in selected wetlands of Punjab, India

The results revealed that the status of water quality in the selected wetlands was between good and poor during studied seasons (summer, monsoon, and winter) of year 2019.

Spatial Heterogeneity and Cause Analysis of Water Quality of Coastal City River System in Flood and Non-Flood Season: a Case Study of Haikou, China

Through the 26 monitoring sections established in Haikou, 7 water quality indicators were recorded. GIS spatial analysis functions were used to conduct water quality analysis and map water quality

Assessment of the quality of the Densu river using multicriterial analysis and water quality index

The natural resources, especially water in the Densu river basin, play significant roles in the socio-economic development of Ghana. The purpose of this study was to analyse the water quality of the

Impact of Human Activities and Natural Processes on the Seasonal Variability of River Water Quality in Two Watersheds in Lampung, Indonesia

This study identified seasonal water quality characteristics in two adjacent mountainous rivers (Sangharus and Sekampung Hulu Rivers) in Lampung, Indonesia and determined the impacts of fertilizer

Spatial Patterns of Water Quality in the Cuiabá River Basin, Central Brazil

The auto-depuration capacity of the Cuiabá River is intact, but elevated concentrations of Phosphorous and Chemical Oxygen Demand can be observed as far away as the Pantanal floodplain, about 120 km downstream from the urban agglomeration.

Influence of land use on water quality in a tropical landscape: a multi-scale analysis

Water quality data collected between 1977 and 2000 from dozens of gauge stations in Puerto Rico together with precipitation data and land cover maps is relied on to quantify impacts of spatial heterogeneity in LUC on several water quality indicators and determine the spatial scale at which this heterogeneity influences water quality.

Spatial pattern assessment of river water quality: implications of reducing the number of monitoring stations and chemical parameters

This study suggests that the Taiwan EPA can adjust the surface water-monitoring program of the Tamsui River by reducing the monitoring stations to 28 and the measured chemical parameters to five to lower monitoring costs.

Water Quality Assessment and Pollution Source Identification of the Eastern Poyang Lake Basin Using Multivariate Statistical Methods

Multivariate statistical methods including cluster analysis (CA), discriminant analysis (DA) and component analysis/factor analysis (PCA/FA), were applied to explore the surface water quality
