Abstract Strong geographical variations in the twinning rate have been presented in the literature. In general, the rate is high among people of African origin, intermediate among Europeans and low among most Asiatic populations. In Europe, a progressive increase has occurred in the twinning rate from south to north, with a minimum around the Basque provinces. The highest twinning rates in Europe have been found among Nordic populations with the exception of the Saamis (Lapps). Within larger…
Temporal and Spatial Variations in the Twinning Rate in Norway

TLDR
The study of the temporal variation of the TWR in Norway considers the period from 1900 to 2014, and one may expect that the environmental and genetic differences between the counties in Norway have disappeared and that the regional TWRs have converged towards a common low level.
Twinning Rates in Isolates

TLDR
The aim of this study was to investigate the twinning rates (TWRs) in isolates relative to the TWRs in the surrounding populations and to show how to obtain the most precise confidence intervals for the Twinning rates.
Effect of Fertility on Secondary Sex Ratio and Twinning Rate in Sweden, 1749–1870
TLDR
The influence of CBR and TFR on the SR and TWR was examined and statistical significant effects were found.
Geographic Variation in Fertility Measures in Sweden in (1749 - 1870)
TLDR
No common spatial pattern for the demographic variables SR, TFR, CBR and TWR was detected, but a better fit was noted for T FR,CBR and TwR than for SR.
A Study of Multiple Deliveries in Portugal: Indications of an Iberian Peninsula Pattern
TLDR
The results of the Portuguese study on multiple deliveries are interpreted in the context of the Iberian Peninsula based on findings reported for Spain.
Glimpses at the History of Sex Ratio Studies
The sex ratio at birth (SR) is defined as the number of males per 100 females and is almost always around 106. John Graunt (1620–1674) was the first to compile data showing an excess of male births
Application of transformations for orthogonality
In the statistical analysis of multivariate data, principal component analysis is widely used to form orthogonal variables. Realizing the difficulties of interpreting the principal components,

TLDR
This study studies the temporal and regional variations of the twinning rate in the 25 counties of Sweden from 1751 to 1960 and suggests that the convergence may be caused by increased urbanization and industrialization and by the increased interregional migration of citizens as a consequence of better communications.

TLDR
This study considered data for the counties of Gotland, Alvsborg and Stockholm and the city of Stockholm from 1749 to 1960 and for Sweden until 1996, finding that the decreasing trends in the twinning rate were statistically significant.
Demographic Analysis of the Variation in the Rates of Multiple Maternities in Sweden Since 1751
TLDR
The aim of this paper was to study the temporal and regional variations in multiple maternities in Sweden from 1751 to 1960 based on demographic and some socioeconomic data for the counties, and confirmed the earlier studies that maternal age and parity cannot satisfactorily explain the secular and regional differences in the twinning rates.
Standardization of the twinning rate.
TLDR
This article suggests different methods and applies them to different data on twinning from Australia, Finland, and Baden-Württemberg (West Germany) to give standardized twinning rates similar to the rates obtained by traditional methods.

TLDR
The association between the rates of multiple maternities in Sweden and in its 25 counties for the period 1751-1960 and the effect of external variables can be assumed to be monotonic is analyzed to find the correlation coefficients between the twinning and the triplet rates are moderate.

TLDR
In Europe and the USA, both mean birth weight and age-standardized dizygotic twinning rates correlate positively and significantly with latitude and the association of photoperiodicity with latitude is relevant.
A Comparison of Ridge Estimators
Least squares estimates of the parameters in the usual linear regression model are likely to be too large in absolute value and possibly of the wrong sign when the vectors of explanatory variables
Minimax Ridge Regression Estimation
Abstract : The technique of ridge regression has become a popular tool for data analysts faced with a high degree of multicollinearity in their data. By using a ridge estimator, it was hoped that one
Ridge and related estimation procedures: theory and practice
For the classical linear regression problem, a number of estimators alternative to least squares have been proposed for situations in which multicollinearity is a problem. There is, however,

In the presence of multicollinearity in data, the estimation of parameters or regression coefficients in marketing models by means of ordinary least squares may give inflated estimates with a high
