The pharmacodynamic and nephrotoxic effects of cefamandole were investigated. Cefamandole at concentrations of 512 and 1024 micrograms/ml bath caused complete relaxation in isolated guinea pig ileum and rabbit duodenum, respectively. Concentrations of 2048 and 4096 micrograms cefamandole/ml bath caused marked stimulation in force and frequency of rat uterine muscle in all stages of sex cycle.
