The general principles of soft tissue surgery in birds are briefly discussed. The surgical techniques for dealing with swellings about the head, the neck, the thoracic inlet and the rest of the body are described and the problems of abdominal surgery, including gastrotomy or ventriculotomy, the surgery of the remainder of the alimentary canal and surgery of the gonads, are described.
