A systematic account is given of 17 families, 25 genera, and 32 species of anthoathecate hydroids and limnopolyps reported from Hawaii. Applying Reversal of Precedence provisions in zoological nomenclature, the familiar hydrozoan genus names Hydractinia Van Beneden, 1844a, Bimeria Wright, 1859a, and Porpita Lamarck, 1801 are designated as valid and as nomena protecta, while seldom-used older names threatening them (the synonyms Echinochorium Hassall, 1841 and Manicella Allman, 1859a, and the…

On a collection of hydroids (Cnidaria, Hydrozoa, Hydroidolina) from the west coast of Sweden, with a checklist of species from the region

An account is given of 48 species identified in a small collection of hydroids from the west coast of Sweden. Assigned to39 genera and 18 families, most are well-known from boreal waters of the North

Report on hydrozoans (Cnidaria), excluding Stylasteridae, from the Emperor Seamounts, western North Pacific Ocean.

Fourteen species of hydroids, collected during August 2019 by ROV SuBastian of the Schmidt Ocean Institute, are reported from the Emperor Seamount chain in the western North Pacific Ocean, with Hydroids identified as Bouillonia sp.

Margelopsis gibbesii (McCrady, 1859) (Cnidaria, Hydrozoa): taxonomic review, and conservation of usage by designation of a lectotype.

Hydids and medusae of the species are re-described from new material, the cnidome of both stages is characterized, and a taxonomic review is given, with the hydroid stage reported for the first time since its original description in the mid-19th century.

Similiclava nivea (Cnidaria: Hydrozoa: Similiclavidae): a new family, genus and species of athecate hydroid from the Pacific coast of North America

Molecular analysis using the mitochondrial 16S gene sequences reveals that S. nivea is closer to Clathrozoellidae than to Hydractiniidae, although it is clearly distinct from both.

Some shallow-water hydroids (Cnidaria: Hydrozoa) from the central east coast of Florida, USA.

This paper gives a systematic account of 67 species, referable to 22 families and 40 genera, identified in a small collection of hydroids from the central Atlantic coast of Florida between Melbourne

Biofouling hydroids (Cnidaria: Hydrozoa) from a Tropical Eastern Pacific island, with remarks on their biogeography

ABSTRACT The hydroids of Cocos Island (Isla del Coco), Costa Rica, have received scant attention and are poorly known. Only 11 species have been reported from there previously, with five of them

Hydroids (Cnidaria: Hydrozoa) from Tristan da Cunha and St. Helena

The present report provides the first account of the shallow water hydroids of St. Helena, which comprises 17 species, and adds nine new records to the hydrozoan fauna of the Tristan da Cunha group

Astrocoryne cabela, gen. nov. et sp. nov. (Hydrozoa : Sphaerocorynidae), a new sponge-associated hydrozoan

A comprehensive morpho-molecular assessment of Sphaerocorynidae is strongly needed in order to clarify the taxonomic issues and the diversity of this taxon.

First record of the hydroid Eudendrium carneum (Cnidaria: Hydrozoa: Hydroidolina) in Indian waters

Among hydroids, the widespread genus Eudendrium in particular is infrequently reported from India, and the present record thus assumes significance.

Additions to the hydroids (Cnidaria, Hydrozoa) of marine fouling communities on the mainland of Ecuador and in the Galapagos Islands

Four introduced and eight cryptogenic hydroid species from the coast of mainland Ecuador are recognized and three of them, E. integra, C. irregularis, and C. seriata, are new to the Ecuadorian mainland.

The hydroid fauna of the Galápagos Islands, Ecuador, is known largely from reports of collections made between 1932 and 1938 during several Allan Hancock Pacific Expeditions, but an additional 15 species are added here, based on collections undertaken between 1992 and 2000.

Leptolida (Cnidaria: Hydrozoa) collected during the CANCAP and Mauritania-II expeditions of the National Museum of Natural History, Leiden, The Netherlands [Anthoathecata, various families of Leptothecata and addenda]

Hydroids and hydromedusae (Cnidaria: Hydrozoa) from the fjords region of southern Chile

The shallow-water hydroids and hydromedusae from the fjords region of southern Chile are surveyed and twenty species are new records for Chile, including two species recorded for the first time from Chile since their original description.

Revision of the European athecate hydroids and their medusae (Hydrozoa, Cnidaria): Families Oceanidae and Pachycordylidae

The macrotaxonomy of the two families is un- settled and must be regarded as provisional, and Histological sections confirmed that Turritopsis polycirrha is hermaphroditic and larviparous, while T. nutricula is dioecious and oviparious.
