AbstractNeglected research areas in biogeography are suggested. Biocenoses, or biotic communities, are the basic units with which the biogeographer should be concerned. Biogeographic research should now pass on from the study of species to integrated work on entire biocenoses, the interdependence between biocenoses and their biotopes, and the study of biocenoses in their comparative geographical context.
