Abstract Examination of 21 collections of 9 Celmisia species showed that they had a low proportion of filled seed, a high incidence of surface fungi, a mean germination period of 4–6 weeks, and a variation in germination between collection lines of a species similar to that among species. Germination requirements were: for moistened seed an exposure to light for 1 day or more for seed of a few months age; temperature optima of 10–20°c for initial germination but 5–15 °c for total germination… CONTINUE READING
