Chromosome counting and RAPD (Random amplified polymorphic DNA) were used to study somaclonal variation in Norway spruce somatic embryogenesis. The cytogenetic approach revealed, for the first time in this species, three cases of mutated acclimated somatic plants: one totally trisomie and two chimeras with trisomie buds and diploid roots.
