This study aims to characterize solid household waste and to present physicochemical characteristics of fresh leachate before landfilling in Kasba Tadla city, Morocco. Obtained results show that household waste produced in 2013 were about 11,787 tons, or 0.27 tons/capita/year. These wastes were composed essentially of organic materials (74%), paper (8%), plastics (9%), metals (1%), and glass (0.5%). However, monthly produced leachate ranges from a maximum of 130.92 m 3 during summer and a…

Characterization of leachate from Ampar tenang closed landfill site, Selangor, Malaysia
Due to rapid population growth, continuous economic development, industrialization and urbanization, the generation of municipal and industrial solid wastes is increasing. Landfilling is still
A combined treatment of municipal solid waste landfill leachate using Opuntia ficus-indica cactus as coagulant and titaniferous sand as filter material
Abstract In Morocco, the increasing production of municipal solid waste (MSW) and its by-products, in particular leachate, is a major concern. MSW leachate is a very complex effluent, loaded with
Anaerobic codigestion of urban solid waste fresh leachate and domestic wastewaters: Biogas production potential and kinetic
The Biochemical Methane Potential (BMP) of fresh leachate and domestic wastewaters codigestion was determined by laboratory Bach Tests at 35oC over a period of 90 d using a wide range of leachates
A Cost-Effective Strategy for Leachate Treatment Optimization: Biostimulation Using Carob Powder as Co-substrate
In developing countries, most of the daily produced household wastes are buried in landfill sites without any prior treatment. One of the many problems associated with these landfills is the
Treatment of stabilized landfill leachate using coupled Fenton-like and adsorption process onto Moroccan bentonite clay
The present study aims to explore the feasibility to apply a sequential process combining Fentonlike and adsorption onto local Moroccan bentonite clay for the treatment of the stabilized landfill

Anaerobic treatment of domestic wastewater in subtropical regions
In this thesis, the application of upflow anaerobic sludge bed (UASB) reactors for the treatment of low-strength domestic sewage was studied for the city of Salta , in northwestern Argentina . The
The influence of soluble organic matter from municipal solid waste compost on trace metal leaching in calcareous soils.
Anaerobic degradation of coconut husk leachate using UASB-reactor.
The polyphenol, VFA and COD were diminished gradually with time, and the biogas production was increased with loading and about 82% of the total COD/kg husk could be converted toBiogas.
Biological nitrogen removal from municipal landfill leachate: low-cost nitrification in biofilters and laboratory scale in-situ denitrification
In conclusion, nitrification in a low-cost biofilter followed by denitification in a landfill body appears applicable for the removal of nitrogen in landfill leachate in colder climates.
