Soil Emission of Nitrous Oxide and its Mitigation
@article{Ussiri2012SoilEO, title={Soil Emission of Nitrous Oxide and its Mitigation}, author={David A. N. Ussiri and Rattan Lal}, journal={Soil Emission of Nitrous Oxide and its Mitigation}, year={2012} }
Nitrous oxide is the third most important anthropogenic greenhouse gas in the atmosphere, contributing about 6% to the radiative forcing by long-lived greenhouse gases. In addition to its role as greenhouse gas, N2O also play significant role in ozone (O3) depletion. Its atmospheric abundance prior to industrialization was 270 parts per billion by volume (ppbv). Its current abundance is ~324 ppbv. Over past 10 years, the mean annual growth rate is ~0.8 ppbv year . It is emitted into the…

Cropland soil–plant systems control production and consumption of methane and nitrous oxide and their emissions to the atmosphere
- Environmental Science
- 2015
Abstract Croplands are an important source of atmospheric methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O), both potent greenhouse gases. Reduction of cropland CH4 and N2O emissions is expected to mitigate…
