In the past decades, various nuclear reactor neutrino experiments have measured a deficit in the flux of antineutrinos coming from the reactor at short reactor-detector distances, when compared to theoretical calculations. One of the experiments designed to investigate this reactor antineutrino anomaly is the SoLid experiment. It uses the compact BR2 research reactor from the SCK-CEN in Mol, Belgium, to perform reactor antineutrino flux measurements at very short baseline. These proceedings…

Development & Implementation of the Trigger for a Short-baseline Reactor Antineutrino Experiment (SoLid)

After having introduced the experimental and theoretical background of neutrino oscillation physics, as well as SoLid's detector technology, read-out system and trigger scheme, the thesis presents the design of the firmware neutron trigger implemented by applying machine learning methods.

Neutron lifetime, dark matter and search for sterile neutrino

A review is focused on experimental measurements on neutron lifetime. The latest measurements with a gravitational trap (PNPI NRC KI) and a magnetic trap (LANL, USA) confirmed PNPI result of 2005.

Updated global 3+1 analysis of short-baseline neutrino oscillations

A bstractWe present the results of an updated fit of short-baseline neutrino oscillation data in the framework of 3+1 active-sterile neutrino mixing. We first consider νe and ν¯e$$ {\overline{\nu}}_e

Getting the most neutrinos out of IsoDAR

Several experimental collaborations worldwide intend to test sterile neutrino models by measuring the disappearance of antineutrinos produced via isotope decay at rest (IsoDAR). The most advanced of

Prospects for detecting eV-scale sterile neutrinos from a galactic supernova

Future neutrino detectors will obtain high-statistics data from a nearby core-collapse supernova. We study the mixing with eV-mass sterile neutrinos in a supernova environment and its effects on the

First results of the deployment of a SoLid detector module at the SCK-CEN BR2 reactor

The SoLid experiment aims to resolve the reactor neutrino anomaly by searching for electron-to-sterile anti-neutrino oscillations. The search will be performed between 5.5 and 10 m from the highly

The reactor antineutrino anomaly

Recently, new reactor antineutrino spectra have been provided for 235U, 239Pu, 241Pu, and 238U, increasing the mean flux by about 3 percent. To a good approximation, this reevaluation applies to all

Light Sterile Neutrinos: A White Paper

This white paper addresses the hypothesis of light sterile neutrinos based on recent anomalies observed in neutrino experiments and the latest astrophysical data.

Evidence for oscillation of atmospheric neutrinos

We present an analysis of atmospheric neutrino data from a 33.0 kiloton-year (535-day) exposure of the Super–Kamiokande detector. The data exhibit a zenith angle dependent deficit of muon neutrinos

Technology of the SoLid detector and construction of the first submodule

The SoLid experiment aims to resolve the reactor anti neutrino anomaly by searching for short baseline neutrino oscillations. The experiment makes use of a novel detector technology based on the
