Making of smart grids puts mounting pressure on the nation’s aging electric power transmission system. Just planting additional towers and stringing more line won’t practice the nation’s electric power transmission infrastructure to meet up the energy challenges ahead. Smart grids stand geared up to play a much larger role in the energy equation for reduction of transmission line losses. The FACTS controllers come out with the capability of enhancing transmission system control, reliability…

Analysis of Power System Stability of IEEE 9 Bus System with TCSC and STATCOM
TLDR
The analysis of results shows that without the FACTS device under fault condition there are a lot of oscillation in the system and it takes much time for the system to become stable whereas with FACts device connected the system oscillations are reduced and also the system becomes stable in less time.
Transient Stability Improvement Of IEEE 9 Bus System With Shunt FACTS Device STATCOM
TLDR
This paper aims on improving the stability of a 9 bus power system under fault condition using a shunt FACTS device STATCOM or static synchronous compensator modeled in MATLAB SIMULINK Software.
Power quality improvement using fuzzy logic controller based unified power flow controller
TLDR
This paper tried to improve power quality using a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) based UPFC, where it used to control both active and reactive power flow, decreas the total harmonic distortion (THD), correct power factor, regulate line voltage and enhance transient stability.
