We study two-body interactions of magnetic skyrmions on the plane and apply them to a (mostly) analytic description of a skyrmion lattice. This is done in the context of the solvable line, a particular choice of a potential for magnetic anisotropy and Zeeman terms, where analytic expressions for skyrmions are available. Along the solvable line the interaction energy for a pair of skyrmions is repulsive with power law fall off in contrast to the exponential decay found when the potential…

Background fields and self-dual Skyrmions
• Physics, Mathematics
• 2020
We show that a suitable background field can bring a non-BPS topological soliton into its BPS, self-dual, counterpart. As an example we consider Skyrmions in the minimal Skyrme model. We prove the

We study two dimensional soliton solutions in the $CP^2$ nonlinear $\sigma$-model with a Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya type interaction. First, we derive such a model as a continuous limit of the $SU(3)$
Exploring instantons with spin-lattice systems

Instanton processes are present in a variety of quantum field theories relevant to high energy as well as condensed matter physics. While they have led to important theoretical insights and physical
Near-BPS baby Skyrmions

We consider the baby-Skyrme model in the regime close to the so-called restricted baby-Skyrme model, which is a BPS model with area-preserving diffeomorphism invariance. The perturbation takes the

It is theoretically shown that skyrmion textures may form spontaneously in condensed-matter systems with chiral interactions without the assistance of external fields or the proliferation of defects, within a phenomenological continuum model based on a few material-specific parameters that can be determined experimentally.
