We were interested to read the recent paper by Ichii-Jones et al (1998) published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology. The authors searched for particular variants of the melanocortin 1 receptor (MC1R) using restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis and performed a case control study with skin type and melanoma.
