Crude coal tar (CCT), a complex mixture rich in polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) including carcinogens such as benzo[a]pyrene (BP), is widely used therapeutically in dermatological practice, particularly in combination with ultraviolet radiation in the treatment of chronic dermatoses such as psoriasis.
