An in vitro sister-chromatid exchange (SCE) assay using rat erythroblastic leukemia cells was conducted with four major trihalomethanes (THMs): chloroform, CHCl3; dichlorobromomethane, CHCl2Br, dibromochloromethane, CHClBr2; bromoform, CHBr3.
