Stent implantation represents the most commonly performed percutaneous coronary intervention nowadays. However, instent restenosis due to exaggerated neointimal hyperplasia remains a problem to overcome. Neointimal hyperplasia is a vascular response to stent injury; it mainly consists of smooth muscle cells proliferation.
