A high-performance liquid chromatography method for the determination of urinary acetyl derivatives of the polyamines putrescine, cadaverine and spermidine is described. This procedure utilizes an ion-exchange column for the separation of acetyl derivatives and the compounds are quantitated by fluorescence after reaction with o-phthalaldehyde.
