A direct competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was developed to detect a broad range of (fluoro)quinolones in various matrices. In the optimized generic test, anti-sarafloxacin antibodies in combination with norfloxacin conjugate showed 50% binding inhibition at 0.21 ng mL(-)(1) for sarafloxacin in buffer.
