We present the results of detailed N-body simulations regarding the interaction of four massive globular clusters in the central region of a triaxial galaxy. The systems undergo a full merging event, producing a sort of 'Super Star Cluster' (SSC) whose features are close to those of a superposition of the individual initial mergers. In contrast with other similar simulations, the resulting SSC structural parameters are located along the observed scaling relations of globular clusters. These… Expand

The evolution of the globular cluster system in a triaxial galaxy : can a galactic nucleus form by globular cluster capture ?
Among the possible phenomena inducing evolution of the globular cluster system in an elliptical galaxy, dynamical friction due to field stars and tidal disruption caused by a central nucleus is ofExpand
Merging of Globular Clusters in Inner Galactic Regions. I. Do They Survive the Tidal Interaction
The main topic of this paper is the investigation of the modes of interaction of globular clusters (GCs) moving in the inner part of a galaxy. This is tackled by means of high-resolution N-bodyExpand
Cluster Cannibalism and Scaling Relations of Galactic Stellar Nuclei
Recently, very massive compact stellar systems have been discovered in the intracluster regions of galaxy clusters and in the nuclear regions of late-type disk galaxies. It is unclear how theseExpand
A Dynamical Model for the Globular Cluster G1
We present a comparison between the observational data on the kinematical structure of G1 in M31, obtained with the Hubble Space Telescope Wide Field Planetary Camera 2 and Space Telescope ImagingExpand
A HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE CENSUS OF NUCLEAR STAR CLUSTERS IN LATE-TYPE SPIRAL GALAXIES. II. CLUSTER SIZES AND STRUCTURAL PARAMETER CORRELATIONS
We investigate the structural properties of nuclear star clusters in late-type spiral galaxies. More specifically, we fit analytical models to Hubble Space Telescope images of 39 nuclear clusters inExpand
The formation of ultracompact dwarf galaxies
Recent spectroscopic observations of galaxies in the Fornax Cluster reveal nearly unresolved 'star-like' objects with redshifts appropriate to the Fornax Cluster. These objects have intrinsic sizesExpand
Dynamical friction in a non-rotating triaxial galaxy: the effect on box orbits
The effect of dynamical friction in the deceleration of globular clusters (GCs) on box orbits in triaxial potentials is investigated by means of numerical computations in Schwarzschild'sExpand
The dynamical mass of the young cluster W3 in NGC 7252. Heavy-weight globular cluster or ultra compact dwarf galaxy?
We have determined the dynamical mass of the most luminous stellar cluster known to date, i.e. object W3 in the merger remnant galaxy NGC 7252. The dynamical mass is estimated from the velocityExpand
An efficient parallel tree-code for the simulation of self-gravitating systems
We describe a parallel version of our tree-code for the simulation of self-gravitating systems in Astrophysics. It is based on a dynamic and adaptive method for the domain decomposition, whichExpand
