We study the properties of the Lindbladian quantum mechanical evolution of quarkonia with non-Abelian charges (color-singlet and octet) in the quark-gluon plasma. We confirm that heavy quark recoils in the Lindblad equation correctly thermalize quarkonium colorful states within statistical errors from the simulation method. We also demonstrate that the Lindblad equation in the dipole limit can provide an efficient alternative method, which is applicable to a finite time evolution before…

Approach to equilibrium of a quarkonium in a quark-gluon plasma

We derive equations of motion for the reduced density matrix of a heavy quarkonium in contact with a quark-gluon plasma in thermal equilibrium. These equations allow in particular a proper treatment

Stochastic potential and quantum decoherence of heavy quarkonium in the quark-gluon plasma

We propose an open quantum systems approach to the physics of heavy quarkonia in a thermal medium, based on stochastic quantum evolution. This description emphasizes the importance of collisions with

Quarkonium propagation in the quark–gluon plasma

In relativistic heavy ion collisions at RHIC and the LHC, a quark gluon plasma (QGP) is created for a short duration of about 10fm/c. Quarkonia (bound states of cc̄ and bb̄) are sensitive probes of

Bottomonium suppression in an open quantum system using the quantum trajectories method

We solve the Lindblad equation describing the Brownian motion of a Coulombic heavy quark-antiquark pair in a strongly coupled quark-gluon plasma using the highly efficient Monte Carlo wave-function

Heavy quark master equations in the Lindblad form at high temperatures

We derive the quantum master equations for heavy quark systems in a high-temperature quark- gluon plasma in the Lindblad form. The master equations are derived in the influence functional formalism

Medium evolution of a static quark-antiquark pair in the large Nc limit

We study the transitions between the different color states of a static quark-antiquark pair, singlet and octet, in a thermal medium. This is done non-perturbatively exploiting the infinite mass

Quarkonium suppression in heavy-ion collisions: An open quantum system approach

We address the evolution of heavy-quarkonium states in an expanding quark-gluon plasma by implementing effective field theory techniques in the framework of open quantum systems. In this setting we

Quantum and classical dynamics of heavy quarks in a quark-gluon plasma

A bstractWe derive equations for the time evolution of the reduced density matrix of a collection of heavy quarks and antiquarks immersed in a quark gluon plasma. These equations, in their original

Heavy quarkonium suppression in a fireball

We perform a comprehensive study of the time evolution of heavy-quarkonium states in an expanding hot QCD medium by implementing effective field theory techniques in the framework of open quantum

Quarkonium in-medium transport equation derived from first principles

We use the open quantum system formalism to study the dynamical in-medium evolution of quarkonium. The system of quarkonium is described by potential nonrelativistic QCD while the environment is a
