Abstract Shuttle Imaging Radar-B (SIR-B) images of coniferous forest stands dominated by Ponderosa pine in the Mt. Shasta region of northern California were used to evaluate a composite L-band HH backscattering model of coniferous forest stands. Eight forest stands were employed to describe the relative trend and distribution of backscattering coefficients.
