The Republic of Estonia faced a series of cyber attacks and riots in 2007 that seemed to be highly coordinated and politically motivated, causing short-lived but substantial impact to Estonia's cyber and economic systems. Short-term harm from these hybrid incidents led to long-term improvements and leadership by Estonia in the cyber arena. We created a causal model of these attacks to simulate their dynamics. The model uses the DYMATICA framework, a cognitive-system dynamics structure used to…

Discrete Event Simulation of Cyber Maintenance Policies According to Nested Birth and Death Processes
TLDR
A novel discrete event simulation model for predicting cyber maintenance costs under multiple scenarios is proposed, similar to the Susceptible-Infected-Removed (S-I-R) epidemiological model, which is used for the evolution of computer hosts and the vulnerabilities on the hosts.
DISCRETE EVENT SIMULATION OF CYBER MAINTENANCE POLICIES ACCORDING TO NESTED BIRTH AND DEATH PROCESSES
TLDR
This article proposes a novel discrete event simulation model for predicting cyber maintenance costs under multiple scenarios, similar to the SusceptibleInfected-Removed (S-I-R) epidemiological model, and investigates the significance of celebrity vulnerabilities.
FORECASTING CYBER MAINTENANCE COSTS WITH IMPROVED SCAN ANALYTICS USING SIMULATION
This article proposes a discrete event simulation model of an organization that maintains computer hosts and incurs several millions of dollars in maintenance and incident response costs. The common

Impact of Alleged Russian Cyber Attacks
TLDR
Government and organizational leaders need to ensure that their cyber defenses are ready to protect private information, internet services, and electrical grids that rely on internet technology to function and regional organizations and international organizations need to increase their cooperation to defeat cyber crime.
Foundations to the unified psycho-cognitive engine.
TLDR
This document outlines the key features of the SNL psychological engine, a unified simulation of human response from stimuli through executed behavior that explicitly recognizes emotive and reasoned contributions to behavior.
Conceptual modeling: Definition, purpose and benefits
TLDR
This panel is for leading researchers to identify and discuss their views on conceptual modeling and will debate the definition, purpose and benefits of conceptual modeling for the field of simulation.
