Taking the context of simulating a retail environment using agent based modelling, a theoretical model is presented that describes the probability distribution of customer "collisions" using a novel space transformation to the Torus $Tor^2$. A method for generating the distribution of customer paths based on historical basket data is developed. Finally a calculation of the number of simulations required for statistical significance is developed. An implementation of this modelling approach to… Expand

Modelling COVID-19 transmission in supermarkets using an agent-based model
An agent-based model of customer movement in a supermarket with a simple virus transmission model based on the amount of time a customer spends in close proximity to infectious customers is formulated and encouraged to find the most effective store policies that reduce virus transmission in stores and thereby protect both customers and staff. Customer mobility and congestion in supermarkets
This paper uses anonymized, ordered customer-basket data to infer empirical mobility flow in supermarkets, and applies variants of the gravity and intervening-opportunities models to fit this mobility flow and estimates the flow on unseen data. Expand
Path Data in Marketing: An Integrative Framework and Prospectus for Model Building
A formal definition of a path is proposed, a unifying framework is derived that allows us to classify different kinds of paths, and a range of important operational issues that should be taken into account as researchers begin to build formal models of path-related phenomena are covered. Expand
The complex network of global cargo ship movements
The data analysed in this paper improve current assumptions based on gravity models of ship movements, an important step towards understanding patterns of global trade and bioinvasion. Expand
Traffic Dynamics on Complex Networks: A Survey
Traffic dynamics on complex networks are intriguing in recent years due to their practical implications in real communication networks. In this survey, we give a brief review of studies on trafficExpand
