A culture isolated from ascospores of Hypoxylon rickii, a xylariaceous ascomycete collected in Martinique, had yielded botryane, noreremophilane and abietane-type terpenoids in a preceding study, but additional metabolites were detected by extensive HPLC–MS analysis in other fractions. Herein we report the further isolation of four new sesquiterpenoids with a silphiperfol-6-ene skeleton from extracts of H. rickii. The planar structures were elucidated by NMR and HRMS data as 13… Expand
Botryane, noreudesmane and abietane terpenoids from the ascomycete Hypoxylon rickii.
TLDR
Three new sesquiterpenoids featured a 14-noreudesmane-type skeleton and were named hypoxylan A-C (7-9); the diterpenoid rickitin A (10) contains an abietane-type backbone. Expand
The Rickiols: 20-, 22-, and 24-membered Macrolides from the Ascomycete Hypoxylon rickii.
TLDR
The total synthesis of rickiol E3 (9) established easier access to these compounds, and observed transesterification of 20- Membered ring structures to 22-membered isomers rickiola’s A, B, and E, respectively. Expand
Rickicaryophyllane A, a Caryophyllane from the Ascomyceteous Fungus Hypoxylon rickii and a 10-Norbotryane Congener.
Herein we report the isolation from Hypoxylon rickii of a new sesquiterpenoid (1) with a caryophyllane skeleton. The planar structure of 1 was elucidat ed by NMR and HRMS data as theExpand
Terphenyl derivatives and drimane - Phathalide/isoindolinones from Hypoxylon fendleri BCC32408.
TLDR
The investigation led to the isolation of ten previously undescribed compounds including three terphenylquinones, and six novel drimane - phthalide-type lactone/isoindolinones derivatives (fendlerinines A - F) along with seven known compounds. Expand
Trienylfuranol A and trienylfuranone A–B: metabolites isolated from an endophytic fungus, Hypoxylon submoniticulosum, in the raspberry Rubus idaeus
TLDR
A strain of Hypoxylon submonticulosum was isolated as an endophyte from a surface-sterilized leaf of a cultivated raspberry and displayed growth inhibition activity against Saccharomyces cerevisiae using a disc diffusion assay. Expand
Rickenyls A-E, antioxidative terphenyls from the fungus Hypoxylon rickii (Xylariaceae, Ascomycota).
TLDR
Five secondary metabolites with a p-terphenyl backbone from the mycelial extract of a fermentation of this fungus in 70 l scale are isolated by using RP-HPLC and exhibited strong antioxidative effects and moderate cytotoxic activity against various cancer cell lines. Expand
Phylogenetic and chemotaxonomic resolution of the genus Annulohypoxylon (Xylariaceae) including four new species
TLDR
A phylogenetic β-tubulin tree in conjunction with stromatal HPLC profiles clearly shows that Annulohypoxylon comprises two distinct lineages, and the A. cohaerens/multiforme group might eventually warrant segregation into a new genus as further molecular data become available. Expand
ISOLATION OF TWO BOTRYANES FROM Hypoxylon rickii AND IDENTIFICATION OF THE ENCODING GENES
10-oxodehydrobotrydial (1) and 4β-Acetoxy-9β,10β,15α-trihydroxyprobotrydial (2) have been isolated from Hypoxylon rickii mycelia extract. Compound 2 is probably an intermediate of botrydial, which isExpand
Diversity of biologically active secondary metabolites from endophytic and saprotrophic fungi of the ascomycete order Xylariales.
TLDR
The diversity of secondary metabolites in the fungal order Xylariales is reviewed with special emphasis on correlations between chemical diversity and biodiversity as inferred from recent taxonomic and phylogenetic studies. Expand
Hypocriols A-F, Heterodimeric Botryane Ethers from Hypocrea sp., an Insect-Associated Fungus.
TLDR
Compounds 1-6 appear to be the first heterodimeric botryane ethers and showed antiproliferative effects against a small panel of four human tumor cell lines. Expand

Lenormandins A—G, new azaphilones from Hypoxylon lenormandii and Hypoxylon jaklitschii sp. nov., recognised by chemotaxonomic data
TLDR
The status of the new species was established by using molecular phylogenetic data based on ITS and partial beta-tubulin sequences, and by detailed morphological studies, revealing that this group of pigments is specific for Hypoxylon lenormandii from various geographic regions and otherwise only occurs in closely related taxa. Expand
Sporothriolide derivatives as chemotaxonomic markers for Hypoxylon monticulosum
TLDR
During the course of a screening for novel anti-infective agents from cultures of tropical Xylariaceae originating from French Guiana and Thailand, pronounced antifungal activity was noted in extracts of cultures of Hypoxylon monticulosum, leading to the known metabolite sporothriolide as active principle. Expand

Hypoxyvermelhotins A-C, new pigments from Hypoxylon lechatii sp. nov.
TLDR
The discovery of a new species of Hypoxylon and the identification of three novel congeners, previously isolated from cultures of endophytic fungi, further illustrate the high diversity of unique secondary metabolites in stromata of the hypoxyloid Xylariaceae, a family in which biological diversity seems to parallel the chemical diversity of their bioactive principles to a great extent.
