The MiniBooNE experiment at Fermilab reports results from an analysis of ν_{e} appearance data from 12.84×10^{20} protons on target in neutrino mode, an increase of approximately a factor of 2 over previously reported results. A ν_{e} charged-current quasielastic event excess of 381.2±85.2 events (4.5σ) is observed in the energy range 200<E_{ν}^{QE}<1250  MeV. Combining these data with the ν[over ¯]_{e} appearance data from 11.27×10^{20} protons on target in antineutrino mode, a total ν_{e…
Severe Constraints on New Physics Explanations of the MiniBooNE Excess.
The MiniBooNE experiment is reported to have reported an anomalous 4.5σ excess of electronlike events consistent with ν_{e} appearance from a ν_μ} beam at short baseline, and it is considered that the observed electronlike signal may actually be initiated by particles produced in the Mini BooNE target, without involving new sources of neutrino production or any neutrinos oscillations.
Explaining the MiniBooNE excess by a decaying sterile neutrino with mass in the 250 MeV range
The MiniBooNE Collaboration has reported an excess of $460.5\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}99.0$ electronlike events ($4.8\ensuremath{\sigma}$). We propose an explanation of these events in terms of a

Unexplained excess of electronlike events from a 1-GeV neutrino beam.
The MiniBooNE Collaboration observes unexplained electronlike events in the reconstructed neutrino energy range from 200 to 475 MeV, and the shape of the excess in several kinematic variables is consistent with being due to either nu_{e} and nu[over ]_{e] charged-current scattering or nu_{mu} neutral- current scattering with a photon in the final state.
