The haemodynamic response to premature excitation was studied in open-chest dog hearts. Intraventricular pressure, dP/dt and outflow rate of the left and right heart (5 experiments each) were compared at variable preextrasystolic intervals and with the stimulation at three different sites (left ventricle--LV apex and base, right ventricle--RV free wall).
