CNP has a primary structure similar to that of ANP and BNP, consisting of 22 amino acids, and the ring portion, consisting of 17 amino acids, is highly homologous to ANP and BNP. Different from ANP and BNP, CNP lacks the C-terminal tail and has a Cys residue at the Cterminus. Another species of CNP is CNP-53, which has an N-terminal extension of 31 amino acids compared with CNP-22.
