The effective shear moduli of the perfectly disordered polycrystalline cubic solids are determined by solving the well known cubic equation. The solids include perhaps all the cubic crystals for which single crystal elastic constant data are available at present. It is observed that the effective shear modulus can be empirically expressed as a simple function of the anisotropy parameter A and that a justification for such an expression can be derived from the cubic equation itself.
