Quantum phase transitions between competing equilibrium shapes of nuclei with an odd number of nucleons are explored using a microscopic framework of nuclear energy density functionals and a fermion-boson coupling model. The boson Hamiltonian for the even-even core nucleus, as well as the spherical single-particle energies and occupation probabilities of unpaired nucleons, are completely determined by a constrained self-consistent mean-field calculation for a specific choice of the energy…
Nuclear quantum shape-phase transitions in odd-mass systems
Microscopic signatures of nuclear ground-state shape-phase transitions in odd-mass Eu isotopes are explored starting from excitation spectra and collective wave functions obtained by diagonalization
Prolate-to-oblate shape phase transitions in neutron-rich odd-mass nuclei
We investigate the prolate-to-oblate shape phase transitions in the neutron-rich Pt, Os and Ir nuclei in the mass $A\approx 190$ region. The Hamiltonian of the interacting boson-fermion model, used
Empirical signatures of shape phase transitions in nuclei with odd nucleon numbers
Nuclear level density at low excitation energies is proposed as an indicator of the first order phase transitions in nuclei. The new signature, a maximum value of the level density at the critical
Shape phase transitions and isotopic shift in barium isotopes within covariant density functional theory
A systematic search of the shape phase transitions and isotopic shift of the neutron-rich barium (Ba; Z = 56) isotopes, as a candidate for transitional nuclei, is done within the covariant density
Shape evolution of Hg isotopes within the covariant density functional theory
The shape evolution in the neutron-deficient Hg region is investigated within the covariant density functional framework. We study in detail the chain of even–even mercury isotopes 190−200Hg using
Structure of $^{128,129,130}$Xe through multi-reference energy density functional calculations
Recently, values for the Kumar quadrupole deformation parameters of the nucleus 130 Xe have been computed from the results of a Coulomb excitation experiment, indicating that this xenon isotope has a
Effects of single particle on shape phase transitions and phase coexistence in odd-even nuclei*
A classical analysis of shape phase transitions and phase coexistence in odd-even nuclei has been performed in the framework of the interacting boson-fermion model. The results indicate that the
High-spin structure in the transitional nucleus Xe131 : Competitive neutron and proton alignment in the vicinity of the N=82 shell closure
The transitional nucleus 131Xe is investigated after multinucleon transfer (MNT) in the 136Xe+208Pb and 136Xe+238U reactions employing the high-resolution Advanced GAmma Tracking Array (AGATA)
