A study of the taxonomic status of Desmognathus we/teri and a comparison with D. fuscus and D. monticola yielded information concerning inter- and intraspecific relationships of selected characteristics to size. Many of ed tthese relationships have not been previously studied, while studies of others have yielded confusing or conflicting results.
