Objective: To investigate the efficacy of somatostatin for the treatment of severe acute pancreatitis. Design: Prospective, randomized and unblinded study. Setting: A general intensive care unit (ICU) in a university hospital. Patients: 50 patients with severe acute pancreatitis.
