The antitumor activity of sesquiterpene lactones of the germacrane series was discovered in 1970s [1]. (10)-Epoxy-5,7(H),6,11 (H)-guai-3(4)-11(12)-dien-6(12)-olide (I, arglabin), representing sesquiterpene -lactones of the guaiane type 1, was originally isolated in 1980 from Artemisia glabella Kar. et Kir., an endemic wormwood species occurring in Central Kazakhstan.
