A new sesquiterpene benzoxazole, nakijinol B (3), its acetylated derivative, nakijinol B diacetate (6), and two new sesquiterpene quinones, smenospongines B (4) and C (5), were isolated from the methanol extract of the marine sponge Dactylospongia elegans. Also isolated were the known compounds dactyloquinone B and a 1:1 mixture of ilimaquinone and 5-epi-ilimaquinone. Their structures were determined on the basis of spectroscopic analyses and comparison with literature data. The isolated…

Cytotoxic and protein kinase inhibiting nakijiquinones and nakijiquinols from the sponge Dactylospongia metachromia.

Six new sesquiterpene aminoquinones were found in the sponge Dactylospongia metachromia, and compounds 5, 6, and 8 exhibited the strongest inhibitory activity against ALK, FAK, IGF1-R, SRC, VEGF-R2, Aurora-B, MET wt, and NEK6 kinases.

Dysidaminones A–M, cytotoxic and NF-κB inhibitory sesquiterpene aminoquinones from the South China Sea sponge Dysidea fragilis

Preliminary structure–activity relationship analysis indicated that 18-aminosubstituted sesquiterpene quinones with exocyclic double bond (Δ4,11) are cytotoxic agents and NF-κB inhibitors.

Popolohuanones G – I, Dimeric Sesquiterpene Quinones with IL‐6 Inhibitory Activity from the Marine Sponge Dactylospongia elegans

Five compounds from the marine sponge Dactylospongia elegans showed no cytotoxic activity against five human cancer cell lines, while popolohuanone H showed potent inhibitory activity against IL‐6, an inflammatory cytokine, at the concentration of 10 μm.

A novel approach to sesquiterpenoid benzoxazole synthesis from marine sponges: nakijinols A, B and E-G.

The synthetic method features strategic construction of the requisite dihydroxylated benzoxazole substructure via the ring closure of the N-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-formamide or -acetamide moiety and is reported here for the first time.

Natural sesquiterpene quinone/quinols: chemistry, biological activity, and synthesis.

Covering: 2010 to 2021Sesquiterpene quinone/quinols (SQs) are characterized by a C15-sesquiterpenoid unit incorporating a C6-benzoquinone/quinol moiety. Numerous unprecedented carbon skeletons have

Cinerols, Nitrogenous Meroterpenoids from the Marine Sponge Dysidea cinerea.

Eleven new nitrogenous meroterpenoids, cinerols A-K (1-11), were isolated from the marine sponge Dysidea cinerea collected in the South China Sea, and their structures were determined by detailed

Nocarbenzoxazoles A-G, Benzoxazoles Produced by Halophilic Nocardiopsis lucentensis DSM 44048.

Seven new benzoxazole derivatives, nocarbenzoxazoles A-G (1-7), were isolated from the halophilic strain Nocardiopsis lucentensis DSM 44048 and showed selective activity against HepG2 and HeLa with IC₅₀ values of 3 and 1 μM, respectively.
