Hypoadiponectinemia might represent a risk factor for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the serum total adiponectin levels in patients with simple nonalcoholic fatty liver (NAFL), those with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), and controls.
