Malaria is clinically manifested only when the human malaria parasites in the genus Plasmodium enter the obligatory intraerythrocytic life cycle. Elucidation for the roles of the serum, the key nutrient, and its components is then deemed essential for thorough understanding of the proliferation of Plasmodium cells at the erythrocytic stage.
