OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effectiveness of a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) (sertraline) in decreasing hot flashes in a general population of women. DESIGN A double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover trial was conducted in a southwestern urban setting.
